Welcome to Scenes of Nature. Todd Coburn has been taking photographs in the Mid-Atlantic region for the past ten years. Much of his portfolio portrays the Appalachian mountains and that area known as Shenandoah. As a lifelong resident of the Mid-Atlantic, Todd enjoys the respite that these ancient mountains and rural scenes offer. The Appalachians represent tranquility and an opportunity to relax and contemplate the natural wonders God has created. Due to his love of the outdoors, Todd has spent a great deal of time enjoying all that is unique to Shenandoah and the surrounding area. Todd may be found wandering the region from Pennsylvania to Tennessee ; his photographs represent an opportunity to share his vast knowledge of this locale. You might most find Todd in his favorite locale - Shenadoah National Park.

Spending time in the mountains- amongst the mountain streams, waterfalls, and wildlife- balances the chaos of life in and around the city. Todd hopes that his photographs bring this same balance into the homes of his viewers. Aside from the beauty he finds in his natural surroundings, Todd draws on the Photo Art of Ansel Adams, the Photography of Ken Kauffman, Jim Clark, Steve Shaluta, Steve Rotsch, David Fattaleh, Kevin Adams, and Jim Brandenburg for inspiration.

In seeking that perfect shot, Todd considers his audience, attempting to recreate his mood and offer his perspective. Todd's tool for communication is a Canon 30D, Canon Digital Rebel and an array of lenses and Flashes, including Canon 18-55mm, Canon 35-105mm, Canon 100-400mm IS USM, Canon 28-135 IS USM, Canon 75-300mm, Sigma 150mm Macro 1:1, Sigma 10-20mm, Canon 550 EX flash, Canon 430EX Flash, Canon MR-14EX Macro Ring Lite Flash, Canon 1.4 extender and a Slik 700DX Tripod.

Todd is a member of the Potomac Valley Nature Photographers, the Shenandoah Photographic Society, the National Audubon Society, and the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. Todd was a Fair photographer at the 2006 Clarke County Virginia Fair. He was named one of the 2006 Shenandoah Photographic Society's Photographers of the year. He has attended the following workshops: 2006 Spring Photography Workshop at Twin Falls State Park in Mullens, WV - 2006 Birds of Prey Workshop at Three River Avian Center in Brooks, WV - 2007 Spring in the Smokies with Bill and Linda Lane in Gatlinburg, TN - to hone his skills as a Photographer. His photographs have appeared in several issues of Rubs and Scrapes (a Maryland Bowhunters Society magazine) with a recent Cover Photo, he has been published in the Blue Ridge Parkway's Parkway Milepost 2007, he has been published in Blue ridge Country magazine, he has been featured on Washington D.C.'s NBC 4 website and in local news broadcasts, and he has 3 pictures hanging in the Stephen City, Virginia, Handley Bowman Library.
